Job Brief

Manage the eastern corporate warehouse to service all participating TravelCenters of America (TA) locations.  Receive and ship merchandise to all facilities for resale and retail operations.  Manage all aspects of the three distinct retail businesses (Administration, Warehousing and Trucking) that service TA.   

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Direct supervisors in all aspects of their jobs, which include picking, palletizing, staging, loading, scheduling, ordering equipment for lease, monitoring truck routes, managing drivers, paying invoices, policy adjustments, inventory control, systems maintenance, purchasing in-house goods, hiring, firing, workers’ compensation claims, and injuries
  2. Develops, coordinates and teams with the systems department (i.e. bar code scanning) to enhance picking, receiving, inventory control in the warehouse
  3. Answers questions from the field and help their operations anyway possible
  4. Works with Westlake, field locations and outside vendors     
  5. Reviews daily cycle counts, maintain minimal shrink, perform annual audit
  6. Approves expenses associated with administration, trucking or warehousing
  7. Develops budgets and track their outcome as it relates to “raw” numbers and percentage of shipments
  8. Supplies financial information to home office for the development of statements and reports
  9. Completes sales and inventory reports to reflect the performance of the business units
  10. Processes new hires, worker compensation claims, payroll, and new employee orientations
  11. Trains new employees, direct employees to training seminars for warehousing, systems, and transportation
  12. Negotiates freight rates with common carriers
  13. Negotiates warehouse and trucking leases with appropriate vendors
  14. Works with outside consultants to identify better efficiencies


  1. Bachelor’s degree in Transportation/Warehousing preferred
  2. 2-4 years Operations experience with developed knowledge of Accounting, Human Resources, Safety and Trucking required
  3. Previous supervisory experience and knowledge of DOT regulations required
  4. Leadership and negotiation skills required
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  6. Strong skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel, required
  7. Critical thinking skills to interpret information and accurately
