Job Brief

The Restaurant Field Trainer is responsible for planning, developing and delivering manager and hourly training programs.  Leads or supports strategic development / analyses of administrative training material.  Ensures restaurant training facilitators remain up-to-date regarding training standards. Evaluates training methods to include on-the-job training, webinars, e-learning and classroom methods/blended training approaches are maximizing training comprehension and retention.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide Daymaker Customer Service Experience for our external and internal customers by ensuring that the Always and Nevers are practiced daily to support a customer service driven culture.
  • Establish and maintain training requirements for location general managers, assistant general managers, managers-in-training, cooks, servers, and dishwashers.
  • Review existing training materials annually.  Make updates as needed.  Update training materials to ensure acquired training is comprehended and retained.
  • Work closely with site management, directors and district managers to ensure execution of training plans.
  • Support Restaurant turnover initiatives by facilitating remedial training when required.
  • Support company internal promotion programs. Administer DMIT/ GMIT / AGMIT / MIT programs to ensure candidates receive support needed to complete the programs in the time allotted.
  • Serve as central point for assuring that department policies and procedures are up to date in the training materials and other published and electronic forms of documentation.  Monitor the intranet operations manual to ensure consistency with current policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with other departmental trainers to maintain consistency and share best practices.
  • Support the training needs for newly opened, converted or acquired locations.
  • Conduct on-site training classes. 
  • Create annual training schedules and class agendas. Monitor enrollment of participants to ensure each location’s GM, AGM and hourly position skill sets are at the company targeted level.
  • Facilitate various classroom programs at the Training Center and remote designated training locations.
  • Conduct a six day restaurant GM training class at the Training Center to be held in conjunction with leadership class for all newly hired and promoted GMs after they complete Basic GM training.
  • Complete all administrative and other assigned tasks in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain constant communication with company recruiters to ensure awareness of new hire status to help facilitate training schedule.
  • Maintain a good rapport with directors, district managers and marketing program managers to ensure training material/curriculum is meeting the needs of the business.
  • Monitor Monthly Training Performance Report to ensure 100% training completion.
  • Assist / coach the management team of the bottom 10 locations.
  • Support field management with operations, human resources and systems issues/questions


  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent job experience.
  • Five to seven years of experience in assigned department’s operations.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
