Job Description

The JAVA Technical Lead is responsible for the design, development, and overall implementation of a set of applications within the team. Strong technical, business, and interpersonal skills are required for this position. The Lead will rely on extensive expertise from at least 10+ years of experience in full-stack software development in several technologies.  They will be responsible for contributing to several development projects from begin to end and will carry forward the architectural vision and governance to ensure consistent, high-quality software development and implementation.  The JAVA Technical Lead will also work closely with the IT and Systems Development teams to help solve complex technical issues and will also be expected to manage small projects and developers to completion.  Must possess the following qualifications:

Functional Guidance

  • Provide development best practice guidance to development team to ensure high-quality software is delivered
  • Mentor, train, and share technical knowledge with developers
  • Effectively communicate technical solution designs and lead discussions between the business and technical teams
  • Work closely with business partners, project managers, business analysts, architects, and the technical team to encourage collaboration on process improvements and technical solutions
  • Ability to create technical roadmaps and identify required projects or technical activities to support and enable technical roadmaps
  • Ability to envision and champion software development process changes

Systems Development

  • Perform complex programming assignments requiring an advanced aptitude of various technologies
  • Act as a technical expert in the discovery and investigation of complex and critical technical issues
  • Perform proofs of concept and prototypes to ensure feasibility and functionality fit, working closely with architecture
  • Create functional and technical design specifications and other documentation as required
  • Provide direction and drive development team members to deliver software based on specifications
  • Define non-functional software requirements to meet business and infrastructure needs
  • Facilitate code reviews and ensure adherence to established architectural standards and general coding best practices
  • Design solutions that may involve complex integrations and service-oriented architecture
  • Design software solutions that guide and enhance the operational experience of the end user
  • Recommend and drive designs with the development team that promote security and data integrity as defined by the security team

  • Systems Integration
    • Working knowledge of enterprise integration patterns
    • Multiple ESB Solutions (e.g. RedHat JBoss Fuse, SAP PO)
    • Service-oriented architecture
      • RESTful Web Services
      • WCF
      • Experience with packaged software solution implementation and maintenance
      • Working knowledge of modern web-based technologies (e.g. HTML, JavaScript, JQuery, JSON, XML) 
      • XML-based technologies such as XML, XSLT, XSD, WSDL, DTD, XPath, XQuery
      • Experience using UI frameworks (Bootstrap)
      • Experience using SPA frameworks (Angular, React, Vue)
      • Database technologies
        • Oracle: Exedata, APEX, SQL, PL/SQL
        • ETL: Informatica
        • Reporting: Cognos, Sisense
        • Development Operations experience
          • Build tools (e.g. Jenkins, Bitbucket, Bamboo)
          • Docker
          • Source control (e.g. GIT, SVN)
          • Code review/analysis tools (e.g, Resharper, Crucible)
          • Unit testing frameworks and mocking (e.g. jUnit, nUnit, MS Test)
          • PCI Compliance
          • Application security concepts
          • Languages: Java, .NET, Unix Scripting languages
          • Databases: Oracle
