Job Brief

The Communications Manager is the champion of TA’s brand and drives consistent messaging across internal and external sources.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manage corporate press release processes.  Draft and administer corporate press releases on a variety of topics.  Manage Business Wire and Press Page accounts.  Provide a summary of press releases and readership to key executives on a quarterly basis.
  2. Support and execute internal communication strategies focused on employee engagement.  Serve as Marketing’s point-of-contact for the TA Intranet and Lotus Notes Home Page content.
  3. Develop and maintain a set of boilerplates/mandatories, logo and style guidelines, customer service talking points and corporate social post protocols that ensure brand consistency.
  4. Manage and enhance the Digital Marketing content calendar to accommodate various business unit needs.
  5. Manage the UltraONE and Motorist content (be the editor of this effort) across all touch points, for the TA-Petro website, newsletters, mobile apps, blog and collateral materials.
  6. Assist in copywriting and proofreading as required.
  7. Manage the RoadKing magazine publishing vendor and be the final editor of each issue.
  8. Test and optimize internal channels outside of email, including intranet portal, video, social and new technology.
  9. Provide communications support for various internal departments, including HR, Marketing, Finance, Fleet sales and Franchising.
  10. Develop and manage relationships with key external stakeholders and enhance TA-Petro’s corporate reputation among all Key Opinion Leaders.  Manage third-party requests, such as film or photography requests, sponsorships and charities.
  11. Manage the www.ta-petro.com website structure and coordinate changes and updates as required.  Manage the renewal/cancellation process of all website domain names.
  12. Manage and provide a semi-regular complaint and opportunity analysis.
  13. Support crisis communications as needed.

Qualifications

  1. Five years minimum of hands-on corporate communications, PR, internal communications or integrated marketing communications including social media and messaging platforms.
  2. Publicly traded company experience helpful.
  3. Bachelor's degree required; preferably in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field with an  advanced degree (preferably MBA) highly desirable.
  4. Strong social media and digital acumen are required.
  5. Public relations expertise, including broad experience in areas such as media relations and government affairs.
  6. Develop and manage thought leadership initiatives from planning to writing to distribution.
  7. Expert in AP style; demonstrated writing skills and portfolio samples.
  8. Strong business acumen and ability to interface with team members across all levels of the organization.
