Job Brief

As part of the Convenience Store Accounting Team, you will serve as the accounting arm of our C-Store Division as well as the first line of communication between the various MinitMart C-Store locations, Field Personnel, and TA Headquarters.  To assist in providing and or maintaining accurate and timely financial information which includes obtaining specified required supporting documentation, recording certain accounting entries, and the review and reconciliation of reporting, accounting, financial controls, and other record keeping.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Displays enthusiasm for TA Operating LLC in its entirety as follows but not limited to all teams of operations, all teams of accounting, customers, etc…
  2. Upholds company standards and those required of the team.
  3. Knows and follows confidentiality policy.
  4. Treats operation teams as “customers” of the accounting organization.
  5. Positively accepts and trains in own positon including cross training in other aspects of the business to ensure a well-rounded understanding not only of the team but the business.
  6. Willingly helps other team members when needed.
  7. Assists in taking inventory of office supplies and in the counting, ordering, receiving, and storing of office supplies when necessary.
  8. Has a general knowledge of the day-to-day operation of the back office and accounting computer systems.
  9. Has a general knowledge about the MinitMarts operations and accounting to ensure providing direction for any areas not related to C-Store accounting functions.  Including but limited to developing and maintaining a relationship with C-Store locations in order to assist in any accounting related questions/issues they may have.
  10. Being open minded to the growth and change of not only the business but of the team, which should include discussing both positive feedback and constructive criticism with the supervisor and suggesting and supporting innovative ideas.
  11. Obtain specified required supporting documentation for not only accounting purposes but other departments in which these should either be maintained or forwarded to the appropriate personnel.  Such as monitoring the receipt of the required daily reporting packages from the MinitMart C-Store locations, personnel documentation to forward to HR, etc…
  12. Completes and maintains specified accounting transactional forms and/or reporting and records certain entries accurately and efficiently including those for audit purposes. To include but not limited to recording various accounting entries relating to the C-Store locations including but not limited to QSR and car wash sales, lottery sales and purchases, general ledger corrections, and end of month inventories and accruals.
  13. Audits transactions performed by others and/or financial data for accuracy, reasonableness, and procedural compliance.  Such as following all security guidelines and procedures including being an alert to walkouts, driveoffs, and thefts to ensure entries are properly recorded and the appropriate individuals and/or departments notified, receives and maintains proper cash accountability, ensuring funds are secure and accurately accounted for, etc…
  14. May assist in the preparation of P&L, forecasts, budgets, and budget updates.  Reviews and analyzes operating results.
  15. Assists the Audit department, A/R Department, Fuel Accounting Department, etc… with MinitMart questions within reason to C-Store Accounting functions.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of a high school diploma.
  2. Degree in Accounting preferred but not required.
  3. Previous experience using various Microsoft Office Products including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  4. Previous involvement with 10 key by touch, typing skills, and other basic bookkeeping skills (filing, report review, phone, fax, email, etc…).
  5. Knowledge of basic accounting concepts.
  6. Previous involvement with accounting software but not required.
  7. Possess a satisfactory work record and proven to be a dependable and enthusiastic team player.
  8. Communication skills both within an internal team environment as well as to external departments.
  9. Works well in a high paced environment with large volume of paper and/or electronic data and is able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
